Cities are full of elements fixed to the floor that create barriers for citizens — especially bollards. however, Teratoma Productions fashion a useful function for these apparently useless elements. In its latest project, PLUG A SEAT, the firm’s objective is to rethink public space through simple operations by giving these elements new meanings and creating street furniture.

Teratoma‘s project consists of a collection of pieces that fit into the street bollards transforming them into temporary seats and tables. Plug a seat encourages citizens to transform the streets into a flexible public space. The studio’s production of these elements were designed using an aluminum piece that fits perfectly into the bollard. Additionally, the pieces come in different sizes and are available in variously colored lacquered aluminum sheets.
